Illustrative Options was established in 1991 and offers a complete range of photographic services ie: Aerial, Advertising, Architecture, Commercial, Industrial, Portraiture, Public Relations, Editorial, Corporate Portfolios, Brochures, Audio Visual Presentations, Digital Manipulation and Retouching of photographs.   We have a fully equipped studio in Gaborone with electronic flash lighting systems, a full range of high end Nikon Digital cameras. (lenses ranging from 14mm to 600mm)

The main body of our work consists of corporate, commercial publications commercial advertising.   We have a full digital studio using Apple Mac, a dedicated 4000 DPI film scanner and a high-resolution dye-sub printer for proofs and playouts. We are able to supply our clients their work directly on USB Drive or digital transfer.   This equipment also compliments our Digital Image Library as we are now able to e-mail clients their selected library images direct.

Illustrative Options operates a large photographic slide library containing approximately 60,000 images of Botswana and surrounding countries.  These 35mm and digital images are on a database for easy identification and can be used for various publications and audiovisual presentations.

Our client base is government (including the Office of the President, Botswana Tourism Board, National Museum and Art Gallery), the corporate and private sectors including leading advertising agencies, Banks, Debswana, insurance companies, architectural and engineering firms as well as a number of aid agencies including USAID, NORAD, SIDA and various United Nations Organisations.

All quotes are calculated on estimated time required, consumable costs and travel expenses.  Fully detailed quotes are prepared for every commission along with a suggested itinerary and naturally, creative advice regarding the concept/client brief.

We were awarded membership to the Professional Photographers Association of Southern Africa in 1993 and in 2009 Karin was awarded Associate membership.  We have received numerous awards including Gold and Silver for Architecture, Mining and Engineering, Landscape and Portraiture. We exhibited for many years in the “Artists in Botswana” exhibition held by the National Museum and Art Gallery in Gaborone.  We received awards at every exhibition we entered. 

The Company directors are Karin Duthie and Mark Henningsen.  Karin Duthie, has a Diploma in Photography from Perth, Western Australia and has been working in the photographic industry for more than forty years.  Mark Henningsen manages the Digital Library and is responsible for all graphics, scanning, digital manipulation and the Illustrative Options web site www.images.co.bw
